"I guess its just one of those days...really Rep Tiahrt? Obama and Thomas must be the only 2 minorities you know in order to illustrate your point. Because we all know that white people don't get abortions...especially not in Kansas!!

Oh by the way - Obama mother and father were married when he was conceived so I'm not sure why you would use this as an example to illustrate the restriction of public funding. Have you ever heard that Omaba's mother didn't want him? Did she say that she was looking for a way out and she couldn't find it...or maybe you just assume that all pregnancies by while mothers with the chance of having a multi racial child should naturally end in termination. Not sure of your thinking but I will say that its pretty flawed. When will you and your kind start realizing that Black people are not sub human and should not be looked upon as discardable if the chance arises. Many kids are here today because they are wanted and because women actually want to become mothers.

This article is a good response to the insanity rampant in the world today. There is definitely a push back from the White "minority" in the US. If the rage they feel, at being discriminated against wrongfully and put down or held to a certain level, is an iota of the oppression that "minorities", especially blacks, in the country feel then I guess I can understand why they are so angry!!! So sorry I cant muster up any sympathy for you because you don't deserve any. The need for blacks and other minorities to strive for achievement is not at the expense of the white majority. It's to coincide with the rest of society.

To sum up the level of ignorance and complete refusal to see this country for what it is, I will just say that Pat Buchanan uses a certain statement on the regular "This has been a country built basically by white folks" but I'm guessing that he forgets to finish the sentence..."on the backs of Blacks and with land stolen from the Native Americans." Maybe if that were the complete statement it would help his supporters to see things in another light. Maybe not, but the least I can do is speak the truth.

My thoughts on the State of Little Big Girl Shopping

Here's my thoughts on the state of the "little" Big girl Fashionistas and their constant struggle to shop like the rest of the world. i.e Chicks under 12 and I'm not talking age or shoe size.

The sad truth is that most mainstream manufacturers/department stores don't care about size 14 and up, even though that is the average size in the US today. (And I’m not counting those matronly plus size clothes lines). There is a whole world of us out there that needs to come out of the closet so to speak. I can’t tell you how hard it is to find a decent fashionable pair of jeans (hello "real" Seven for all Mankind and Citizens), a sexy blouse (Lafayette 148 is way too expensive for multiple purchases) or a cute dress in my size (OK maybe Lord and Taylor has the edge on that one). But I'm in what called no woman’s land. I’m size 14-16, and I want to dress contemporary. However most of the clothes I like stop at size 12 or 14 (or 12W I like to say). Then in some cases the manufacturers may produce those sizes, but stores like Macy’s chose not to carry them. They will only sizes 2-12 or 4-14 to keep the # of units per style on the floor smaller.

So where do we go to shop?? There is no place right now. It’s something my “Fellow Fashionistas” don’t want to discuss because the usual response you get from people is "you’re such a pretty girl, why don’t you lose weight". Well the truth is I am happy, healthy, in shape and comfortable with my size 14. Isn’t that what we should be striving for? I think the fact that I have to lose weight or gain it to fit into the Plus size "boxy" clothes which don’t fit me anyway is not the answer. But that can spiral off into a whole other conversation. The truth is that contemporary companies need to extend their sizes up to 16 to cover the average girl. They need to start respecting the women with the power to spend money on the same styles that our smaller sisters are representing themselves in. We have to let people know through our economic voice that we want a change, then maybe the Macy’s of the world will carry the sizes we need and we can shop at any store we want to. Or maybe we all should band together and start our own companies to fulfill the need. Well…a girl can dream cant she??
